Take a look at each of these print advertisements and be prepared to talk about them in class on Friday. What is the advertisement trying to sell? What kinds of tactics do they use to make their product look appealing?

  1. I thought the Jeep ad was funny. I did notice that all the car ads involved women.

    1. What rebelious ads! Shouldn't those women be in the kitchen...?

  2. Ads have changed so much over time. In today's world most of these ads would be thrown out for something stronger, further reaching.

    1. I agree with Trevor, I think in the olden days, times were more simpler, people lived more simpler and carefree, so the ads really didn't need to be that strong!

  3. All I can think is....isn't it funny that some of these ads would be thrown out today, but then there's ads out there that are even worse? It's just interesting....

  4. Oh man, Camel adds... They're probably the reason why we have regulations on what can be said in commercials. Ridiculous.

  6. These are old advertisements that wouldn't be effective at all in today's society. IMO. It is interesting to see how advertisements have evolved over time.

    1. Technology has ski rocketed. They have come a long way. Some of the old fashions ones seem to be more effective in some cases.

  10. I Only noticed the car ads, car guy. I don't like how they use females to sell cars. If a car has the personalities by itself then you dont need a female on the hood.

  15. The camel ad makes me laugh.. The advertisers tried to show that smoking would make you prettier, and more confident, when in my opinion, it's the complete opposite!
